SShopping
A uniquely Swedish sense of design has reached into homes and offices around
the world. Based on an aesthetic tradition of simple proportions and a feel for
materials, it creates everyday objects that are at once more functional and more
attractive.
Department stores and trendy boutiques specialize in the latest Swedish
fashion items and designs for home and personal use. Stockholm's Nordiska
Kompaniet (NK) and Ĺhléns are among Scandinavia's largest department stores.
Shopping streets in the capital include Biblioteksgatan, Gamla Brogatan and
Sergelgatan.
Smĺland, Sweden's glass district, is the home of famous Kosta Boda and
Orrefors crystal. Other well-known products include furs, stainless steel
flatware and other items, jewelry, dolls and handicrafts. The colorful wooden
Dala horses, manufactured in Nusnäs, are available throughout the country --
you shouldn't leave Sweden without one.

From Swedish Shopping Online

Shop for crystal, glass, stamps, coins, knitted sweaters, furniture, silver
and gold jewelry, woodwork, rya rugs (handwoven Scandinavian floor coverings),
amber, and stainless-steel cutlery. In Lapland, look for Sami art and
handicrafts. Stockholm has great shopping streets: Try Sergels Torg,
Biblioteksgatan, Kungsgatan and Drottninggatan and the galleries along
Vasterlanggatan in Gamla Stan. Stop in the NK department store to see its wool,
crystal and other native products. It's generally less expensive to buy locally
produced crafts directly from the factories rather than in Stockholm. Glassware
marked "irregular" at factory stores is also a good buy.
Shopping Hours: Monday-Friday 10 am-6 pm, Saturday 10 am-5 pm. Some
larger stores are also open Sunday noon-4 pm. Many stores in downtown Stockholm
stay open until 7 pm on weeknights. Suburban shopping malls can be open as late
as 9 pm.

Sweden
Genealogy Genline Workbook

Available April 2006, this step-by-step workbook will help you identify and
locate your Swedish ancestors. With a computer connected to the internet,
thousands of resources are waiting to help you discover your pedigree. The
recently completed digitization of Swedish church records by Genline
opens the volumes of church records for even the smallest of villages for you to
pursue the records to identify your ancestors.
You will be assisted in finding the name, birth month and year of your
immigrant ancestors. Then these details are used to identify the parish from
which each immigrant ancestor originated before coming to North America. Once
the parish of origin is known through investigation, the real hunt begins for
the parents of each person. Then the hunt continues for their parents. And on
and on.
You can expect to go back 6 generations or more depending on your diligence
and patience.

a description of each topic covered in the workbook.
A heavy grade good quality acid free paper is used for the production of
this workbook to allow for it to be passed on from person to person over time.
The backs of each page remain blank so pertinent notes can be added to
personalize the workbook where appropriate. Further, each page is three hole
punched so the spiral binding can be removed and the pages eventually put in a
three ring binder. With this, pages can be added as needed.
8 1/2 inch by 11 inch 140 pages, three hole punched with a plastic spiral
binding. Written in English.
